"The voice of one crying in the wilderness: prepare the way of the Lord; make his paths straight." - Mark 1:3.
A year of my life has been spent in the best ways. On the 26th of March 2017 I started a journey that ended a year later. My first steps of the journey were boarding a plane alone that was heading to a country that has won 8 gold metals in the Olympics. I arrived in Harare, Zimbabwe. I always enjoy the experience of first arriving in a new place. The first drive from the airport to where you stay is always interesting. Seeing the initial sights of the country. As the car drove over the road that was 90% pothole to 10% road I saw these initial sights. Sights of a country that has been on a decline for the last 40 years. I saw the faces of the people living in such poverty and for the next 6 months I continued to see these faces. From Zimbabwe to South Africa then to Namibia all the way to Mozambique I saw poverty. God brought me to places I thought I would never go. Through God I was able to meet the most beautiful people in the most horrible circumstances. I was able to spend time with them and live with them and hear their hearts. God blessed me with a camera to be able to take photos and make videos to help their circumstances. I will never forget my time working in the city of Bulawayo. Meeting and working with the street kids there moved my heart so much. I find myself a year later still wondering if they are okay.

For 6 months I spent everyday, almost every hour with one of my good friends Jaiden Spence. I am so thankful for the Spence family. Such a beautiful family that started the orphanage that Jaiden and myself spent most of our time working with. It was such an incredible experience to be able to live there and to be able to work alongside the people there. It was the best!! This small village in the middle of Zimbabwe will always be on my heart. If you would like to get involved with what VANA does please visit their website and check it out!

Now this is were it gets amazing! So after six months of traveling all throughout Southern Africa, after hitchhiking from one side of Africa to the other, God put the organisation Youth With a Mission (YWAM) on my heart. When Jaiden and I were in South Africa, God introduced me to the right people and I loved what YWAM was all about. To know God and to make Him known. So without any money I signed up to do a DTS (Discipleship Training
School) knowing that God would provide. A DTS is broken up into 2 parts; the lecture phase and outreach phase. The first 3 months of the lecture phase, God shaped and changed my heart so much! He showed me how to love people as a son and a daughter of a Heavenly Father. I developed a serious hunger for His Word and a hunger to live a life that is worthy of His call that He has given me. I never thought I could love God as much as I do now! I am so thankful for all the amazing people at YWAM Muizenberg! Outreach time! I was a part of an incredible group of people that went to Germany and Belgium. God showed me that everywhere is a mission field, and that there is so much need for love in this world. We did a lot of refugee work. We were able to work closely with a large group of refugees from Afghanistan. These guys' stories were so hard to hear. Almost all of them had not seen their family in years because of the war in their country and they were terrified to go back home. We as a group were able to minister to them and just enjoy life with them. It was an incredible experience.

I feel strongly that God is calling me to live a life that is showing God's love to people that need it. I know that my time with YWAM and in missions is not over and I am looking at doing a program in South Africa that is based around the simple theme of loving God and loving people. The program goes for 18 months and I would love for you to partner with me on this next season of my life. If you would like to know more about it and what it involves please feel free to connect with me.
The purpose of this post is mostly is to say thank you. Thank you to everyone who supported me in any way. Without the support of such great people in my life I never would have been able to take part in the amazing journey God guided me through. I keep finding myself in constant amazement of peoples' hearts and peoples' generosity. Once again thank you so much for everything! God bless you all!
